‘Elvis Week’ at Graceland Kicks Off with New Events, Special Guests

Elvis Presley fans from around the world are flocking to Graceland this week to celebrate the life and legacy of the “King of Rock and Roll.”

Elvis Week, which officially kicked off Tuesday, Aug. 9-17, marks the 45th anniversary of Elvis’ death, August 16, 1977. Concerts, tributes, and conversations pack the line-up as music lovers come to honor the famed singer.

Special guests include but are not limited to Priscilla Presley, TCB Band members James Burton, Glen Hardin, Jerry Scheff, and Pat Boone.

Elvis Week will also hold the Semi-final and Final rounds of the “Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist” contest, in which Elvis impersonators will compete for a chance to win the title of Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist of 2022, recognition by Elvis Presley Enterprises (EPE), a cash prize of $20,000, and a contract to perform with EPE.

The week includes many events hosted by several past Elvis Tribute Artists winners, as well as a Thursday night concert featuring 10 past winners. They include first-ever Ultimate winner Shawn Klush (2007), Brandon Bennett (2008), Justin Shandor (2010), Cody Ray Slaughter (2011), Dean Z (2013), David Lee (2015), Gordon Hendricks (2017), Ben Thompson (2018), Taylor Rodriguez (2019), and Patrick Dunn (2021).

On Monday, a candlelight vigil will be held at the gates of Graceland and is open to the public.

On August 16th, the 45th anniversary of Elvis’ death, Graceland is hosting “Elvis Presley in Concert.” The event will show Elvis on the big screen while TCB Band members James Burton, Glen Hardin, and Jerry Scheff play along live.
