DEVELOPING STORY: There is devastation and destruction as far as the eye can see in Middle Tennessee. As many as 21 people are dead and dozens more are missing after nearly 15 inches of rainfall caused flash floods. Search and recovery efforts are still under way in the town of Waverly as well as Humphrey’s County.
Waverly Mayor Wallace “Buddy” Frazier said the ages of the dead start at 7 months and stretch to the elderly, the Tennessean reported.
CLICK HERE TO FOLLOW OR LIKE KWAM ON FACEBOOK!The county will be under an 8 p.m. curfew Sunday night, and law enforcement from surrounding counties will assist in an effort to prevent looting, according to a Humphreys County Emergency Management Agency press release.
The American Red Cross has set up a Middle Tennessee Flooding online resource at www.safeandwell.org where flood survivors can register and let family and friends know they are safe.
