Federal Court Approves Ban on Tennessee Abortions

Tennessee already agreed to enact the trigger ban which was passed in 2019 to ban nearly all abortions. A federal court has just approved another ban on abortions that are as early as six weeks into a woman’s term.

The decision was made by the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals which has jurisdiction over Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio and Michigan. Tennessee’s own trigger ban doesn’t ban abortions until 30 days after the Supreme Court decision.

The historic decision of overturning Roe v Wade resulted in states having the final say over abortion, giving the power back to the people’s elected officials. These two decisions will make the operation of an abortion in Tennessee a felony.
