Tennessee Governor Bill Lee (R) is taking slings and arrows from an atheist group after he called on the Volunteer State to join him in prayer Friday.
“Maria and I invite Tennesseans to join us in this tradition to thank God for his many blessings, seek His wisdom in all circumstances, and ask for His continued grace & favor in the days ahead,” Lee wrote on social media last Friday.Maria and I invite Tennesseans to join us in this tradition to thank God for his many blessings, seek His wisdom in all circumstances, and ask for His continued grace & favor in the days ahead.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation attacked Lee’s call to prayer, calling the declaration unconstitutional.
The group of atheists stated Lee has no right to share his belief in God with the citizens of his state because the framers of the Constitution built a secular country.Nationally syndicated radio host Todd Starnes strongly disagreed.
“As a matter of fact, President John Adams once declared that our Constitution is wholly inadequate for anyone other than a moral and religious people,” Starnes said. “If you take God out of the Constitution, you introduce chaos into the culture.”
