There is growing concern across the Mid-South over the increasingly dangerous situation on Beale Street – the city’s most popular tourist destination.
In recent days videos have surfaced of mobs fighting with each other and with law enforcement. There are also videos documenting vile behavior from mostly women on Beale Street. In one shocking video, a woman stripped down and urinated on a sidewalk.The latest video to surface shows females fighting in the street. As police attempted to intervene, some of the crowd turned on the police.

Many are defending the police officers – pointing out that if they do try to intervene there’s a good chance that activists would accuse them of “police brutality.”
Regardless, the lawlessness must stop.Mayor Jim Strickland and Police Chief C.J. Davis must explain to Shelby County taxpayers why the most heavily-guarded street in Memphis is a war zone.
