Civil Rights Attorney Ben Crump blamed the Shelby County sheriff deputy for trying to stop the motorist that dragged him through Memphis streets.
“Why are young black men continually sentenced to death just from mere traffic stops,” Crump said during a Monday press conference surrounded by the family of Jarveon Hudspeth,

Earlier this week, the DA’s office released the footage of the fatal traffic stop that occurred on June 24. See the footage here:
Crump compared this case to the death of Tyre Nichols, accusing Mid South law enforcement of gunning down black men.
“[Jarveon] was a college student, no criminal history had his whole life ahead of him… but yet they were killed by the people who are supposed to protect and serve them,” Crump said.He added: “How does this keep happening in Memphis, Tennessee and Shelby County.”
