Longtime pro-life Democrat John DeBerry, who is now running as an Independent candidate for the House of Representatives, tells ‘Wake Up Memphis’ that his former party has “maligned me and my record” in order to try to take him down.
“They put signs only in the black community of my face and the president face with ‘Make America Great Again’ with John Deberry and President Trump,” DeBerry tells ‘Wake Up Memphis.’
After the party decided he did not have their version of “Democratic values,” the politician decided to run as an Independent with his same values, which include the Biblical view of marriage and a pro-life stance.“I think that a lot of people realize the injustice and inequities of what the party has does,” he says. “I think a lot of people are bothered by it.”
DeBerry says he’s “disappointed” in the way the Democrats have attacked him in their efforts to win the election in November.
“There is nothing they can offer, all they can do is try to tear me down,” DeBerry says.
