BLOOD & CHAOS! Gunman Opens Fire Near Memphis Hospital, Multiple Injuries

DEVELOPING STORY: A raging gun battle near Methodist North Hospital in Raleigh has injured as many as eight people, according to multiple reports. Memphis police would not confirm the exact number of people shot during the attack. The shooting happened just before 1 a.m.

One eyewitness tells The Mighty 990 that it was a “mass casualty situation” with “seven or eight shot.”

“Blood and chaos,” the eyewitness told the radio station. “A drive-by from the way it sounded.”

Methodist North had been placed on lockdown just after the shooting happened. However, a person inside the hospital told The Mighty 990 that people were being allowed inside. A hospital spokesperson referred all comments to the police department.

As of 4:14 a.m. the police department had not confirmed the actual location of the shooting.

However, a source tells The Mighty 990 that it appeared the victims were ambushed at a gas station right next to the hospital.

“Apparently they were hanging out there when the ambush took place. So close you could hear the gunshots in the hospital,” the source told The Mighty 990.

A photojournalist for WREG posted a photo of an abandoned weapon next to gas pumps.

“Pictures from a WREG photographer show a car riddled with bullet holes with all four doors open in the middle of Covington Pike outside the hospital,” television station WREG reported.

LocalMemphis.com reports witnessing a “silver sedan stopped at the median near the intersection of Austin Peay and Walter K.Singleton Pkwy had more than 20 bullet holes on the driver side.”
