Boy Scouts to Require “Woke” Merit Badge Promoting “Diversity & Inclusion”

Repeat after us: A scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, reverent and woke.

Todd Starnes, the host of the “Todd Starnes Radio Show” called out the Boy Scouts of America over its recent announcement of a “diversity and inclusion” merit badge in the wake of the George Floyd protests.

Effie Delimarkos, a spokeswoman for the Boy Scouts, told the New York Times that details of the new merit badge is still being ironed out, but the plans are being expedited. Any Eagle Scout candidate will have to earn the merit badge in order to achieve the rank. The scouts also announced its commitment to training staff on diversity and inclusion beginning on July 1.

“The Boy Scouts of America stands with Black families and the Black community because we believe that Black Lives Matter,” a letter to scouting families said. “This is not a political issue; it is a human rights issue and one we all have a duty to address.”

Alvin Tillery Jr., a political science professor at Northwestern University,  told NBC News, “I think this is a big deal to the extent that all these traditional, Christian-oriented organizations are trying to get their houses in order with regard to systematic racism. This is an organization that is super-embattled and they’ve had to adopt more progressive stances because nobody wants to have anything to do with them.”

Starnes said that the move to require the merit badge is another example of the left’s power grab.

“Even the Boy Scouts—they’re really not Boy Scouts anymore they’re just scouts, I mean, many of the scouts now have lady parts. So now the scouts, are becoming woke and they’re going to have a brand-new merit badge promoting diversity and inclusion,” Starnes said.

Starnes said that currently, Black Lives Matter is more popular than President Trump and “anyone who dares speak out” against the group, there’s “you know what to pay for that.”
