The Tennessee Department Of Transportation (TDOT) announced that all westbound lanes of Interstate 40 over the Mississippi River are now open. All eastbound lanes opened Saturday night. This means all lanes of the Hernando DeSoto Bridge are open for the first time since May 11.
The crack (which may have been there for years) that caused the May 11 shutdown.
The bridge was shut down following the discovery of damage to the north side of the structure. A large crack and 17 other areas of concern were repaired during the shutdown.
