DEVELOPING STORY: A Memphis police officer was injured and a suspect shot following a bizarre incident Monday in North Memphis.
Police said they received a call just before 11 a.m. about several armed people stealing a car in North Memphis, television station WREG reports.Click here to download the FREE KWAM NewsTalk Memphis app!
When they arrived, they found the car empty. However, one man jumped into the driver’s seat and sped off in the vehicle.
An officer opened fire and hit the suspect causing the driver to crash the car.
The suspect was rushed to Regional One in critical condition. The officer was also taken to the hospital, although it is unclear how the officer was injured.The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has taken over the investigation.
