A 13-year-old boy was shot after a suspected shooter, who was also a student, opened fire Thursday morning at a Memphis K-8 school.

At 9:15 a.m. this morning, Police responded to the incident at Cummings Elementary School in South Memphis.

The young victim was taken to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in critical but stable condition, according to police.

The suspect, who police said attended the school, has turned himself in.

Officers loaded students onto buses to Metropolitan Baptist Church where parents wait to pick up their children.
