BULLETIN: Dozens of Shots Fired Near Germantown High School

DEVELOPING STORY: Germantown police tell The Mighty 990 that someone fired a weapon near Germantown High School Wednesday afternoon.

The gunfire broke out around 2:30 p.m. near Casablanca. Eyewitnesses report a heavy police presence in the area.

Classes had already been dismissed. There were no injuries.

The Germantown Police Dept. released the following statement:

Officers are currently on the scene in the area of the 2400 block of Arthur Road regarding reports of gunfire. Officers have located evidence that shots were fired. At this time we have not identified anyone that was injured during this incident. This is an active and ongoing investigation. Arthur Road is currently shut down due to the investigation. Please avoid the area if possible.

There had been unconfirmed reports that as many as 50 shots had been fired. However, police could not verify that information.

One eyewitness wrote on social media that he was picking up his son across Germantown Road and heard as many as 30 gunshots. He said they were locked down for about a half-hour.

Germantown police say they are searching for whoever was responsible. ATF is reportedly assisting in the investigation, Fox 13 reports.
