BULLETIN: Suspects Open Fire on Memphis Police Officers

DEVELOPING STORY: Gunmen opened fire on Memphis Police officers Sunday afternoon. No one was injured.

Police say officers came under attack near Mt. Moriah and Emerald. They were firing shots out of the back window.

One squad car was struck.

Multiple officers gave chase but lost the suspects in the area of Germantown and Wolf River, the police department said in a statement.

The suspects were in a silver Nissan with no back window and no tags.

One eyewitness wrote on Facebook that her car was nearly hit by the gunmen.

“The person they are chasing almost t-boned me at the intersection of Wolf River and Germantown Parkway. (Around 4:20 today)He was going 100 or more. The police were doing everything they could to keep up. Please pray for our law enforcement and be careful,” the citizen wrote.

The attack happened just days after a Memphis Police officer was shot at the Poplar-White Station Library.
