DEVELOPING STORY: A tornado has caused heavy damage in Tipton County near Covington.
“Tornado appears to have touched down from west side of Hwy 51 around Holly Grove, down Mueller Brass, Covington Middle School, Hwy 59 and Burnett areas,” Sheriff Shannon Beasley posted on Facebook.“Severe damage being reported with multiple homes and structures. Trees and power lines have several roads blocked. PLEASE avoid this area as we don’t need ANY congestion,” the sheriff said.

State troopers have blocked all of the major roads going into Covington. There’s no word on injuries or fatalities.
