UPDATE: Memphis Police say the victim who survived was air-lifted from St. Francis Hospital to Regional One. Police say both men were attending a repass at Perignons Restaurant and Event Center. They believe there was at least one gunman. Police said the shooting may have been a targeted attack and the incident was reportedly captured on video. As of yet, officers have not released any information on the suspect or suspects.
DEVELOPING STORY: There are multiple reports on social media that Big Jook, the older brother of rapper Yo Gotti was gunned down Saturday afternoon at a funeral reception on Winchester.Jook was reportedly hit multiple times in what appears to be a targeted shooting. Video posted on social media shows a man on the ground, unconscious – his white shirt soaked in blood.
Memphis Police confirmed to KWAM that one person was rushed to St. Francis Hospital where he was pronounced dead. A second victim arrived at St. Francis by private vehicle. He is reportedly in critical condition.
There is a heavy police presence at St. Francis as well as the parking lot of the Perignons Restaurant. Scanner traffic indicated the hospital had been placed on lockdown. St. Francis has not returned calls seeking comment.
TMZ reports: “Sources with direct knowledge tell us the rapper’s older sibling was gunned down Saturday in Memphis on near Winchester Road. Per reports, this murder took place after he’d attended a funeral service in the area.”Police did not release the names of the victims or any information on possible suspects.
Former Shelby County Commissioner Tami Sawyer wrote this on her X feed.
