Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett, a Republican, was arrested Friday night after leaving Bonnaroo. He was charged with driving under the influence.

Hargett said in a statement that he regretted the “circumstances that led to my arrest.”
The secretary of state did not apologize.“On Friday night, after leaving the Bonnaroo Music Festival, I was stopped by the Tullahoma Police Department and subsequently arrested for DUI. Driving Under the Influence is a serious matter, and I regret the circumstances that led to my arrest. I respect law enforcement and trust the legal process as we move forward.”
He was was booked in the Coffee County Jail shortly after midnight where he posted posted a $2,000 bail.
J.Cole, The Chicks and Illenium were among the acts which performed at the annual music festival on Friday night.
It’s unclear whether the 53-year-old is an aficionado of electronic dance music, rap, or feminist country music crooners.It seems like an apology may also be in order for his taste in music.
