Two radical Memphis lawmakers want to erase Christopher Columbus.
State Sen. London Lamar (D-Memphis) and State Rep. Joe Towns (D-Memphis) have introduced legislation that would cancel Columbus Day – a direct attack on Tennesseans with an Italian heritage.The Democrats want to eliminate any recognition of Columbus Day and replace it with a holiday to celebrate “Super Bowl Monday.”
“As introduced, removes Columbus Day as a legal holiday; designates the first Monday after the Super Bowl as a legal holiday,” read the proposed legislation.

Many Memphis-area Italians are furious — accusing the two lawmakers of a woke attempt to declare war on the man who helped discover the New World.
“Their legislation is one step removed from calling it Indigenous People’s Day,” said KWAM radio host Todd Starnes, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. daily. “Lamar and Towns should be banished from every Italian restaurant and pizza parlor in the Mid-South.”

“In the upcoming final version of the bill, we won’t be replacing any other holidays. But with more than 16 million Americans expected to skip work the day after the Super Bowl and about 8 million expected to ask for the day off in advance, we’re talking about a major hit to the workforce. My bill simply wants to examine giving the rest of us the day off. Let’s face it, it doesn’t get much more American than the Super Bowl and it’s becoming more and more the norm to miss work the next day. So maybe we should just codify it…or at least just talk about it,” he said.
