With the 50th March for Life coming Friday in Washington D.C., “Wake Up Memphis” with Ben Deeter spoke with a local school making the trek to the nation’s capital.

Father Dexter Noblefranca, the chaplain for St. Benedict at Auburndale Catholic High School, joined the program to give an update on the busload of students he’s taking to the event. The Cordova high school has made the trip 30 times over the years.

It’s the first March for Life following the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and Father Dexter told “Wake Up Memphis” it’s especially a celebration of life this year following the victory. However, the work isn’t done.

“Pro-life is not just anti-abortion,” he said. “It’s the whole range of life, you know? We try to voice out that life is sacred, so we have to protect life from conception to natural death. That’s what pro-life is all about.”

Deeter asked Father Dexter why St. Benedict at Auburndale Catholic High School chooses to march each year.

“We are here to stand for the voiceless,” he said. “We want to be their voices.”
