Church Bells Cause Controversy in Midtown Neighborhood

Midtown residents are furious over tolling church bells at a local Catholic church.

The bells at Little Flower Catholic Church have been faithfully ringing for years, according to Local 24 Memphis

But complaining neighbors accused the church’s pastor Father Yoelvis Gonzalez of adding a PA system to blast the “annoying” bells all over town.

”Those church bells, 13 hours a day of them, every half hour and we can’t get any relief,” one resident told ABC24.

Hundreds of residents in the Vollintine-Evergreen area took to a public forum to express their outrage at the priest’s refusal to silence the bells.

Father Gonzalez is boldly standing by the sonic tradition, telling one upset neighbor that the bells are an invitation to go to church.

KWAM host Ben Deeter blasted the “woke” Midtown residents.

“If a noise alerting them they need to check in with the priest and via the priest then God – I can see why this is bothering them,” Deeter said.

The townsfolk said they plan on taking the church to court.
