Memphis City Council Candidate James Kirkwood joined KWAM’s “Wake Up Memphis” to discuss his campaign and the big issue of crime in the 901.

When asked about what the Memphis City Council isn’t doing right regarding the issue of crime, Kirkwood pinned the issue more on the city’s negligence.

“I think what the city is not doing right is not getting involved,” Kirkwood told KWAM.

He said he’s always planned on running for public office, and now he’s running for District 3, which encompasses areas including Whitehaven and Hickory Hill.

“Real community safety involves everybody getting engaged,” he continued.
