Former State Rep. Justin Pearson (D-Memphis) would not be a very effective legislator with everything that has gone through recently, Shelby County Commissioner David Bradford Jr. told KWAM Tuesday.

State Rep. Justin Jones (D-Nashville) was approved to be reinstated to the Tennessee House Monday night after being expelled last week. Pearson could be reappointed in a vote Wednesday night by the County Commission.

Bradford will not be available to vote but said if he could, he wouldn’t let him go back to the House.

“I think Mr. Pearson is a very smart man, he’s very set on what he believes is the right path,” Bradford told “Wake Up Memphis” host Todd Starnes. “But I believe at this point, he’s probably burned most of his bridges in Nashville. I don’t really think the best path forward for Shelby County is to put him back in place.”

Despite his opinion, Bradford said he is certain Pearson will have enough votes to be reinstated regardless.
