Shelby County Commissioner Edmund Ford Jr. told KWAM he is disappointed in Tennessee State Rep. Justin Pearson (D-Memphis) for breaking House decorum rules during a gun control protest.

“I have probably out of every 10 people that have called me about this issue, maybe two or three have stated that they want me to support the State Rep, but about six or seven do not like what has transpired,” Ford Jr. told “Wake Up Memphis” Thursday.

Pearson represents downtown Memphis, which overlaps into Ford’s district.

If Pearson is expelled from the House today, the county commission has the power to re-appoint him. Ford Jr. stopped short of saying whether he’d support Pearson, but told the Mighty 990 Pearson’s bad behavior could jeopardize state money coming to the county.
