Commissioners to Vote on $5 Million Reparations Study

Shelby County Commissioners are expected to vote as early as Wednesday to spend $5 million of your tax money to study the feasibility of a reparations plan for black citizens, Forbes first reported.
“This is not going to be a process that is issuing checks to Black people in Shelby County,” Commissioner Edmund Ford Jr. told Forbes. “This process of community reparations provides an ecosystem to intentionally track and promote Black wealth while providing access to assets and infrastructure.”
The meeting starts at 3 p.m. and concerned citizens are being urged to attend.

Commissioners would reportedly pull the money from federal China Virus funds to “help reduce disparities between black and white residents in wealth, healthcare outcomes and homeownership.”
What’s especially peculiar is that the Memphis legacy media outlets have failed to report this explosive story.
“Shelby County is home to the state’s worst crime and worst education outcomes,” KWAM political commentator Jordan Carpenter said. “In this environment, using scarce taxpayer dollars to fund a sham study that will produce a predictable result is a bad idea.”
Carpenter was the first to track down Ford’s resolution. Click here to read the resolution.
“What’s worse is that this particular bad idea will further divide our people along racial lines when we should be finding ways to come together. Reparations will not repair our community,” Carpenter told KWAM.
Ford’s resolution said “It is critical that Shelby County acknowledges generations of racial injustice and discrimination while embracing the change that is incumbent in order to transform disenfranchised and dis-incentivized African-American communities into livable neighborhoods with equitable access to housing, healthcare, food, education, and career/business opportunities.”
KWAM will provide full coverage of the resolution beginning at 6 a.m. on Wake Up Memphis With Ben Deeter.
If all 4 Rs vote NO, then the only person who can stop Shelby County from spending FIVE MILLION DOLLARS $5,000,000.00 to fund a study that will undoubtedly report that we must spend MORE MILLIONS on race-based reparations is Commissioner Michael Whaley (@mgwhaley).
Pray for him. https://t.co/QDTApRbeaP
