County Commissioner Edmund Ford, Jr. Calls For Lower Property Tax Rate

In a recent Commission meeting, Shelby County Commissioner Edmund Ford, Jr. called for the county property tax rate to be rounded down. The current proposed rate of $3.399 presents an issue because the rate can only be accepted out to two places to the right of the decimal point. Ford told “Wake Up Memphis” that moving the rate to an even $3.40 is a property tax increase.
