Ohio State Highway Patrol officers exchanged fire Thursday morning with the man, shutting down Interstate I-71 North after the suspect drove away from the scene and started firing at police from a cornfield, NBC 15 News reports.
At 10 a.m. EST, officers said, the driver was out of the car with a pistol pointed at them.The suspect was described as a “white male, orange shirt, bald, sunglasses,” according to the News Journal.
FBI negotiators and an FBI helicopter arrived on the scene.

“Blood splatter on his shorts. Right thigh area,” an officer in a police helicopter said over the radio. “Part of windshield shot out … Suspect on knees, holding rifle.”
A lockdown was put in effect for all buildings within a 1-mile radius of Smith Road and Center Road Intersection.
“Lock doors and stay inside,” the alert said.
At 10:45 a.m. an officer said the suspect was on his knees with the rifle down.
The threat to the FBI building in downtown Cincinnati no longer exists, officials told WLWT.
