Aviation Expert Explains FAA Chaos

Many travel plans this week screeched to a halt as thousands of flights were grounded this morning after a Federal Aviation Administration system outage was reported.

More than 6,000 flights were delayed by mid-Wednesday morning and are gradually retaking to the sky as the day goes on since the outage has reportedly been fixed.

Wake Up Memphis with Ben Deeter has been following the latest developments and talked with FedEx pilot Lee Mills Wednesday morning.

“Now, the real question is, what caused this?” Mills pointed out. “This is akin to crippling the power system of the airlines of the international airspace system. It would be like somebody packing a power grid.”

Currently, there’s no evidence of a cyberattack being the cause of the outage, but President Joe Biden instructed the Department of Transportation to investigate the disaster.

Pilot Mills went into detail about how deep the problem really is, and what officials need to do next.
