Tom Gresham, host of Gun Talk Radio told KWAM that city leaders and businesses should not be going after guns if it’s the gangs who are behind the lawlessness in Memphis.
Many businesses in the city mandate that they remain “gun-free zones” and Gresham believes that is why Memphis parking lots are hotspots for thugs who are breaking into cars looking for guns.
“The store owners really don’t understand, they’re working on a superficial level,” Gresham said on “Wake Up Memphis” Friday. “If I put up a sign that says, ‘no guns,’ then there will be no guns. No, actually there will be no guns in the hands of law-abiding people. The radio show host explained the right to bear arms is as natural of a human right as the right to speak freely.
“The First Amendment and the Second Amendment are identical in this area. Do you have to get a license to exercise free speech? Show me your free speech permit.” he said.
