Here Are the Bills Filed in the Tennessee General Assembly

Lawmakers are making there way to Nashville today to prepare for the 113th Tennessee General Assembly.

KWAM news anchor Pamala Furr shared a legislative preview on “Wake Up Memphis” Monday.

SB0071 – Rape Kits: Tennessee Bureau of Investigation – As introduced, requires the bureau to perform forensic analysis of sexual assault evidence collection kits within 30 days of the bureau’s receipt of the sexual assault evidence collection kit from a law enforcement agency; requires the bureau to submit a plan for eliminating any existing backlog of sexual assault evidence collection kits waiting for analysis; requires the bureau to expunge a DNA record from a local, state, or national DNA database under certain circumstances. – Amends TCA Title 38, Chapter 6 and Title 39, Chapter 13, Part 5.

SB003 – All-Ages Drag Shows: Obscenity and Pornography – As introduced, creates an offense for a person who engages in an adult cabaret performance on public property or in a location where the adult cabaret performance could be viewed by a person who is not an adult. – Amends TCA Title 7, Chapter 51, Part 14.

SB0010 – Ending Permit-less Carry in Shelby County: Handgun Permits – As introduced, requires a person to obtain an enhanced or concealed handgun permit to carry a handgun in certain counties. – Amends TCA Title 39, Chapter 17, Part 13.
