How to Give Back to the Blue this Valentine’s Day

In the wake of the Tyre Nichols case in Memphis, it’s easy for police officers who dutifully do their job every day to get lost in the background.

Julie Wunderlich, “Back the Blue 901” organizer, is trying to change that by giving back to the blue this Valentine’s Day. She joined “Wake Up Memphis” with Ben Deeter Wednesday to let listeners know how they can help.

Wunderlich and a group of friends have brought joy to Memphis officers by bringing them food, lighting up the Memphis bridge blue and more. By the community showing support for those in uniform, Wunderlich hopes to bring a smile to their faces.

“We can’t help with recruitment, I can’t get you 500 officers, but I can definitely, hopefully, help with retainment,” she said.

For Valentine’s Day, Wunderlich’s group is going straight for the heart with something everybody loves.

“We are gonna spread the love with donuts galore,” Wunderlich said.

If you want to get involved and help distribute donuts to officers this Valentine’s Day, email [email protected].
