‘In It to Win It’: Colvett Announces Run for Memphis Mayor

City Councilman Frank Colvett is throwing his hat in the ring for the Memphis mayoral race.

“Today I am formally announcing my candidacy for mayor for the city of Memphis,” Colvett announced on KWAM Thursday. “We are in it to win it.”

Colvett told “Wake Up Memphis” host Ben Deeter fighting crime will be his first priority.

“The most important issue we’re gonna talk about is crime and public safety,” he added.

Colvett called for the city to step up and recruit more police officers.

He joins a growing pool of mayoral hopefuls including Shelby County Sheriff Floyd Bonnor, Memphis-Shelby County School board member Michelle McKissak, and NAACP Memphis president Van Turner.
