Black Teens Cause Mayhem on Beale Street

The Memphis Safe Task Force broke up multiple fights last night and early this morning on Beale Street. Videos posted to social media showed crowds of black young people fighting with each other and fighting with members of the task force. Memphis Police did not say if anyone was arrested. There were also reports of black teenagers shooting fireworks at spectators gathered in Tom Lee Park to watch the annual downtown fireworks celebration. At least one 14-year-old was taken into custody. On Thursday a mob of nearly 100 black teens caused multiple stampedes at the Bartlett fireworks celebration. They also stormed a McDonald’s.
