Memphis mayoral candidate James Harvey joined KWAM’s “Wake Up Memphis” to explain what makes him stand out in the crowded race.

“It’s my business acumen,” he told KWAM. “I have worked in business for 37 years.”

Besides holding a variety of jobs in the business sector over the years, Harvey also explained his solutions for the dramatic rise in crime in Memphis.

“You have to face crime head-on,” he said.

Harvey told KWAM he’s “conservative” and would help crack down on rules that the Shelby County District Attorney’s office would be required to follow. He also slammed Shelby County Sheriff Floyd Bonner, who is also running for mayor.

“He’s done an extremely poor job,” Harvey said.

The general election for the mayoral race is Oct. 5.
