Memphians are furious after an accused mass shooter’s bond was lowered from $800,000 to $25,000.

Ladarius Marion, 21, is charged with five counts of attempted second-degree murder, one count of second-degree murder and five counts of employing a firearm with intent to commit a felony.

Marion is accused of opening fire Sunday at Live Lounge in Whitehaven. One person was killed and 10 others were injured. Four of the victims remain in critical condition.

WMC-TV was in the courtroom when Judge Massey agreed to lower the bail because Marion reportedly could not afford the higher amount.

“I’m speechless,” said one member of the KWAM “Stop Memphis Crime” Facebook group. “Shoot 11 people on Saturday and out on bond for $2,500 (10% of 25k) by Thursday. And claim self defense. What a joke.”

Defendants are only required to post 10 percent of their bond.

“This was a situation from what reports I’ve read and from what I’ve heard in the streets is that there were a lot of guns at this nightclub,” attorney Leslie Ballin told WMC. “That there were a lot of gunshots at this nightclub. Hopefully from our side, this will be on camera and will help exonerate my client.”

Judge Massey did not return phone calls seeking an explanation for why she lowered Marion’s bond.

“All the people that did not vote in the last election – this is what you get,” said another irate Memphian. “The only lives that seem to matter are the criminals. This has got to stop.”

Said another, “Revolving door. Folks better stock up on guns and ammo.”
