Memphis District Attorney Steve Mulroy announced a combination of footage from the incident of Tyre Nichols’ death will be released Friday after 6 p.m.

Five Memphis police officers involved were fired and have been charged with a number of crimes, including second-degree murder and aggravated assault.

Mulroy told reporters the video will be redacted to protect a third party.

“We all want the same thing,” Mulroy said during the press conference Thursday. “We want justice for Tyre Nichols.”

Mulroy also called for more police reform and even called out Memphis Police Chief CJ Davis for being absent at the presser.

“I don’t know why Chief Davis isn’t here,” he told reporters.

“Let me be clear: What happened here does not, at all, reflect proper policing. This was wrong. This was a crime,” Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) Director David Rausch said at the press conference.

The Nichols’ family attorneys issued a statement after the officers were charged.

“The news today from Memphis officials that these five officers are being held criminally accountable for their deadly and brutal actions gives us hope as we continue to push for justice for Tyre,” the attorneys said in part.

Mounted police were spotted outside 201 Poplar around the time of the press conference.

Tennessee Speaker of the House Cameron Sexton tweeted, “We are heartbroken for the Nichols family, and we stand with victims & their families. We are confident justice will be served, & due to legislation passed last year – they will serve 100% of their sentence.”
