KWAM News Talk Memphis has been awarded top honors in the Tennessee Association of Broadcasters Excellence in Broadcasting competition.

KWAM’s news team won “First Place – Large Market” in Local News Coverage. The team was presented the award during a special ceremony Monday at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville.

Ben Deeter, Caleb Parke, Grace Baker and Earle Farrell were presented a glass trophy for their coverage of the 2022 mass shooting that terrorized Memphis.

“I’m incredibly proud of our team and this award,” said KWAM owner Todd Starnes. “We work very hard to be the place where Memphis goes for breaking news.”

KWAM was also awarded a second-place finish in “Public Service.”

Earlier this year KWAM became the only radio station in the Mid-South to win a regional Edward R. Murrow Award by the Radio Television News Digital Association – one of the top prizes in broadcast journalism.
