A school in Michigan fired Justin Kucera, a now-former coach and teacher, because he tweeted who the President of the United States is. The employee at Walled Lake Western high school was sent to a closed-door meeting and given the choice to be fired or resign. One tweet cost Kucera his job:
I’m done being silent. @realDonaldTrump is our president ❌?
Don’t @ me— Coach Kucera (@CoachKWLW) July 7, 2020
The Washington Free Beacon reports Kucera was an apolitical teacher in the classroom and that other teachers have expressed their political views without being reprimanded or fired.
“I was required to meet with [human resources], the superintendent, and my principal [on July 10]. They initially took my statement on why I tweeted those tweets and they told me they would have a decision about my future employment in the upcoming days. When they completed the meeting, I was told I had the option to either be fired or resign,” Kucera said in the article. There have been reports of employees posting racist’ or ‘homophobic’ tweets getting fired, but even stating facts is now getting some fired across the country.
