Dos & Don’ts: Memphis Airport Prepares for Busy Spring Break Travel

Over 48,000 people will make their way through Memphis International Airport during Spring Break.

The five day travel period runs from March 6-10. Airport officials released list of dos and don’ts for passengers ahead of their trip:

Dos: 

  1. Arrive early: Arrive at least two hours before your flight
  2. Prepare your bags: Limit carry-on bags to one, and one personal item.
  3. Put all carry-on items in a bin for screening.
  4. Check prohibited items: Review the TSA’s list of prohibited items
  5. Consider travel insurance: Travel insurance can help protect you from unexpected costs

Don’ts 

  1. Don’t leave luggage in your car: If you park in the blue or yellow lots, you can drop off luggage and passengers at the terminal before parking

Other tips

  1. Lots may reach capacity during peak travel days
  2. Shuttles run between the blue and yellow lots and the terminal
  3. The Cell Phone Lot waiting area is free and close to the terminal
  4. MEM is known for short security lines, but flights before a weekend or holiday can be busy
