Loews Hotel announced that its planned luxury hotel in downtown Memphis is going to be scaled back.

The city’s old police building will no longer be a part of the 500-room convention center hotel.

“Loews Hotels & Co.’s efforts and desire to deliver a convention hotel to the residents of Memphis remains unchanged,” the company said in a statement on May 10. “Though our plans no longer include the former police building, we continue to work with the City [of Memphis] and our development partners on a path going forward.”
