Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn (R) landed in Taipei, Taiwan Thursday for a surprise visit to send a message to China.
The member of the Senate Armed Services Committee was greeted by Minister of Foreign Affairs Director-General for North American Affairs Douglas Hsu.

Regular high-level visits to Taipei are long-standing U.S. policy. I will not be bullied by Communist China into turning my back on the island,” Blackburn said in a statement.
“During my visit to Taiwan, I look forward to hearing directly from the nation’s leadership about their needs and how we can support freedom for the Taiwanese people. I look forward to meeting with leaders in Taipei to advance and strengthen our partnerships,” she added.
Blackburn tweeted “a message to Beijing — we will not be bullied,” along with photos of the trip:
