Memphians are enraged after a judge set a $500,000 bond for the man accused of kidnapping Eliza Fletcher.
Cleotha Abston, 38, has been charged with especially aggravated kidnapping and tampering with evidence. He would only be required to pay $50,000 of the bond to be set free. So far, he remains in custody.Court documents do not reveal the name of the judge who agreed to set bail.
Abston was sentenced to serve 24 years in prison for kidnapping and carjacking a lawyer back in 2000.
And many are wondering why he did not serve the entirety of his sentence. Had he done so, Fletcher would not have been kidnapped.
Fletcher is still missing and Abston refuses to tell police where she might be.“Memphis is a liberal city, so you already know what liberals are doing, they’re letting violent criminals walk free,” one furious resident said.

This is just absolutely horrible. It doesn’t matter what time that lady was jogging he shouldn’t have been in out with the rest of the public. Just some sick people out here just sad. This dumb piece of crap not only destroyed a family but put more tension on a city that was at a divide anyway. Even worse nationwide.
Disgusting. Our justice system protects criminals as much as, if not more than, victims.
Since we seem to be in such an evil time right now, maybe it is high time to go back to an eye for an eye. Whatever he did to her should be exactly what he gets.
Why, why, WHY would they let this fool be out on the streets again??? The system is so corrupt. He deserves to sit and rot. He clearly didn’t learn from his previous kidnapping. I feel so sorry for her family and I can’t imagine the pain they’re going through. I wish he would just give in and tell where she is so her family can have some peace and answers. They at least deserve that.
