Christians from across Memphis are gathering for prayer and worship services in the parking lots of area churches.

Julie Abel, a member of Bellevue Baptist Church and a leader of the prayer movement, was a guest on the Todd Starnes Radio Show on The Mighty 990.

“We were there to pray for them and to show the health care workers and the patients that we are loving them, supporting them and praying for them,” she told Starnes.

A large group of the faithful turned out at St. Francis Hospital singing songs and offering prayers. Several hospital staff members came down to the parking lot and joined the service.

“At St. Francis in Bartlett, employees were in the windows jumping up and down and waving at us,” Mrs. Abel said.

She said she hopes that their efforts will spark a grassroots campaign to lead prayer gatherings at every church in the Mid-South.

“My hope is there will be people to do that at every hospital in the city,” she said.
