BREAKING: Mass Shooting in Memphis on Mendenhall

DEVELOPING STORY: At least five people were shot and one person was killed in a mass shooting on South Mendenhall ironically during a community violence intervention program.

An eyewitness to the shooting tells KWAM he was inside an office at Memphis Allies when the bullets started flying.

“We were spared by the grace of God,” the eyewitness, who asked not to be named, told KWAM. “It was thunderous – the noise. We thought that something had fallen from the ceiling. But it turns out somebody was shooting the place.”

Fox 13 reports that a Memphis Allies staffer confirmed the shooting happened during a meeting. Memphis Allies is a community violence intervention program. 

At least five people were shot and one of the victims is in critical condition. One person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are searching for the gunmen.
