New York Times best-selling author Mark Greaney, known for his thrilling “The Gray Man” series which turned into a Netflix hit last year, is coming to Memphis for a book signing this week.

However, his story started out in Memphis, Tennessee, and Greaney’s journey has been years in the making.

The co-author of Tom Clancy’s “Jack Ryan” novels joined “Wake Up Memphis” with Ben Deeter to talk about his career and the release of his latest “The Gray Man” installment, “Burner.”

The Memphis native talked about his own struggles in becoming a published author, and he gave advice to aspiring writers.

“My advice is to do it if you love and do it because you love it,” Greaney said.

Greaney has traveled across the world to gain insight. His latest installment is “Burner,” and for research, he traveled to places such as Switzerland and Italy.

“I do as much as I can,” he said, “because it really does help the writing and make it more accurate, and it just makes it richer.”

You can purchase “Burner” here.

Greaney will be returning to the 901 this Saturday for a book signing at Charlie Vergos’ Rendevous. You can find out more details about the book signing here.
