Memphis City Council Declares War on Second Amendment

The Memphis City Council introduced a new ordinance Tuesday that would take guns away from Memphians.

“Hopefully we’ll see a ban on automatic weapons, a ban on open carry, a ban on cardless carry. If you have a gun in the city, you need to have a license, you need to be trained,” Councilman Jeff Warren told WREG – TV.

The ordinance would end constitutional carry in Memphis, exempting the city from the other counties across the state that are under the state’s permitless carry law.

KWAM asked city councilman and Memphis mayoral candidate Frank Colvett if he supports the gun grab Wednesday.

“The Second Amendment is everything… I will never vote to take away your guns, period,” Colvett told “Wake Up Memphis” hosts Ben Deeter and Todd Starnes.

Colvett pointed out the state law will trump the council’s radical resolution, adding that “Governor [Bill Lee] doesn’t even read” the council members’ resolutions.
