DEVELOPING STORY: A Memphis police officer was beaten by a thug early Sunday morning in downtown Memphis. Police say the attack happened at the intersection of Gayoso and Ida B. Wells in downtown. Around 12:30 a.m. a large crowd gathered at the scene in vehicles. As officers tried to clear the scene, a supervisor was attacked. The officer sustained minor injuries. There’s no word from police on a description of the thug. It’s also unclear if the incident was connected to a mass shooting that happened around 2:30 a.m. on B.B.
