Memphis Councilman Introduces Database to Hold Criminal System Accountable

Memphis City Councilman Chase Carlisle shared his joint resolution with “Wake Up Memphis” that would bring accountability for Memphis crime. This resolution would create a database for the public to inform them if and when violent criminals are being released back into the streets.

“They’re done all over the country,” Carlisle explained, “it allows people to track cases in a very easy way.”

This would bring accountability to criminals, as well as create the ability to easily follow cases with various judges.

Just recently, Memphis Police Officer Geoffrey Redd was gunned down by a criminal that had been arrested nearly 40 times.

By creating a public database, Carlisle said it will help citizens know that their community is safe and who is out on the streets. It will also hold judges and prosecutors accountable.
