Crime across the board in Memphis is surging at an alarming rate, according to a new report.

The Shelby County Crime Commission, along with researchers at the University of Memphis, conducted the report, which they called “disturbing,” as the city has seen a dramatic spike in crime in 2023.

Major property crimes are up 43% in Memphis in the first three months of 2023, compared to the same period last year.

Car thefts are up 155% across the city so far this year.

The report found violent crimes like murders and rape are up significantly as well.

Just in the first three months of this year, Memphis police reported 81 murders, compared to the 60 murders in that same time frame the previous year.

Reacting to the report, KWAM owner and radio host Todd Starnes tweeted, “Memphis is a city controlled by radical, progressive Democrats.”
