“Our prom was canceled,” Cheng said. “Luckily, my school was very fortunate, a lot of the faculty and parents have put together a set of all the activities we are going to do, including graduation.”
The school has organized three sets of dates to conduct the various school activities. If Memphis is still in quarantine when the first date arrives, they will push the events to the next date.
The senior at a local private high school has had a memorable high school experience that got cut short due to the coronavirus. As a member of the A Capella group called One Voice, Cheng is used to a busy schedule of school and shows.“It’s been a great experience,” Cheng said. “I’ve actually been able to be the vocal percussionist, or beatboxer, it’s a fancy way of saying beatboxer, for the group.”
The 18-year-old student is looking to continue his music passions at the University of Cincinnati in the fall.
“I’m going to be going into musical theater,” Cheng said, “And just see where that leads. I’m very excited.”VIRTUAL GRADUATION: “The Worst Part is Not Getting to Celebrate With My Friends”
