Memphis Mayor Launches LGBTQ+ Department Amid Soaring Crime

Memphis Mayor Paul Young just announced the new ‘Queer’ liaison to his office, Renee Parker Sekander.

“Renee is serving in this role to make Memphis a more inclusive, safe, and equitable city for the queer community,” Young’s office said in a social media statement.

The Commercial Appeal called Sekander a “Rising Political Star.” She was a critical player in Young’s campaign.

“Y’all means all – let’s do it!” the mayor said.
